SNUGGLE UP TO YOUR CHIP SHOTS

Being accurate with your chip shots is a sure way to lower your scores.  If you have ever taken a lesson or a group class with me you heard me say ‘Snuggle up to your chip’.

As like putting the closer you are to your chip shot the more control you have and the easier it is to execute a good shot!

The set up is simple.  As photo below shows.  You may set up a little ‘open’ or have feet pointing to the ball.  Ball is in middle of stance.  Your club can be set as you would your putter.  More up and down.

I also like to say, ‘straight back, bounce, and hold’.   What does this mean?  Well you need to keep the face neutral as it moves back from ball.  Not twisting the face or your hands.  The club returns back to the ball as it is making contact with the ground (that’s using the sole or the bounce of the club). That makes the ball pop a bit off the face.   The ‘hold’ is also very important.  Again accurate chip shots start with control of the face.  If the face can stay neutral through your motion you will become more accurate.

Give this a go.  Any questions?  Feel free to email me at Carolinaschoolofgolf@gmail.com   Or to book a lesson click on this link     https://calendly.com/golfschool/60minprivatelesson
